Who should attend?

Regional lodging facilities, food service businesses, tourism agencies, “eco” product suppliers and recreational activity businesses who are interested in learning how to become more economically and environmentally sustainable, as well as students pursuing careers in hospitality, food service, tourism marketing or environmental stewardship are encouraged to attend.

 

What if my business isn't green? Can I still attend?

Know that there are many shades of green! Whether you are a lodging facility just grasping recycling, a restaurant wanting to source local food, or a business in the process of energy upgrades, there is always room for improvement! What's Included in Conference Admission?

Registrants will be entitled to attend the Monday “Taste of the Region” reception, entry to the exhibit hall and information center, Tuesday’s recognition luncheon, and be given a choice of trainings and workshops. Each attendee will be given a custom coupon package for regional products and services valued at $100, plus an information packet of events, sites, tours and fun stops to explore en route to or from the Villa Roma.

*TripAdvisor’s GreenLeaders is a 3 tiered program which recognizes lodging properties who practice and can verify environmental best practices. This training will teach how to qualify for the program.

 

**A Green Ambassador is an existing employee of a lodging, food service or retail facility trained in customer  service and on how to locate events and activities in the region, and convey this information to guests.

About the conference organizers:

The Green Tourism Working Group is a public-private sector collaboration group initiated and chaired by Sue Currier of the Delaware Highlands Conservancy and Evadne Giannini of HospitalityGreen LLC, and is comprised of tourism associations, economic development organizations, state agencies and local foundations from five counties of New York; Delaware, Greene, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster and three counties of Pennsylvania; Wayne, Monroe and Pike. The interstate collaboration has been initiated in order to increase regional revenue through sustainable tourism initiatives.
