With the support of our members the Delaware Highlands Conservancy is actively conserving special lands in the Upper Delaware River Region. With the help of members, supporters, and willing landowners, we achieved our goal of protecting 10,000 acres by the end of 2007. Set in 1999, this goal seemed a Heculean task considering that we had only helped to protect 1,000 acres at the time. It is a testament to the number of landowners who love their land and want to see it protected as well as to the support of members, donors and volunteers. Thank you! But it doesn’t end here. With both sides of the Upper Delaware River experiencing growth pressure, the Conservancy has set a new goal – to help protect another 10,000 acres by 2012. In addition to working with private landowners to protect their land, we also host educational events that celebrate the natural resources we enjoy and promote better stewardship of the land around us. Programs throughout the year provide local residents with the conservation tools and innovative solutions. The Delaware Highlands Conservancy is the non-profit sponsor of the public television documentary Nature’s Keepers which will is being released across the nation this fall. It is an important project that will further advance conservation in our region.

Set for Release this fall, Nature’s Keepers highlights Pike County’s leadership on land stewardship and smart growth issues. It focuses on the people of Pike County who are working to educate and mobilize their community toward action on behalf of the land and the place they love.

Opportunities abound to help us conserve the Upper Delaware River Region. Do you have a day, a week, or like to be called for special projects to help us?
